My awesome wife brought me breakfast on our front porch. Sausage and egg scrambler, and peanut butter toast. Not pictured: coffee. Glorious coffee. My wife may not let me completely fill the driveway with beaters, and the garage with janky scooters of questionable origin, but I’m glad she kept me.
Excuse the mess. It’s a gorgeous morning, and I can’t be bothered to care.

About to get dressed to head out to the storage unit. At bare minimum, I plan to get the scooter naked. Though, I hope to get it running to some degree. It doesn’t need to run well, just run.

Working. Still working. I finally shut it down about 1:00 this morning after I FINALLY got the geoprocessing models functioning. I know, that means nothing to most folks. Basically, we have hydrologic engineers who are running watershed models. When they are done with their work, I take the data and use it to figure out how much of a difference their proposed drainage improvements will make during the next flood event. That involves analyzing four different flood scenarios with and without the improvements and calculating how many homes would be “saved” by the proposed improvements. Then we can generate a benefit/cost ratio and determine whether the improvements are worth funding.
Since there are deadlines for funding and lots of projects which must be evaluated, I’m living and breathing work for th e next couple of months. The upside is that I get to post on Oppo while the models are crunching numbers.

Eating at a great local Mexican restaurant with my wife, as has become a Sunday tradition for us. Finding good, real Mexican food in the Midwest is a challenge. Fortunately my wife grew up in San Diego so I have a good judge with me. The machaca y huevos I had today was great!

Building things! I decided to wait for father’s day to look for a nice hand saw, so instead I used.... A cordless angle grinder

Driving from Austin to Lindsborg, KS. Just about 600 miles. Just stopped at Buc-ee’s next to the TX Motor Speedway. 200 miles under the belt so far. Ultimate destination is Custer SP in SD.

Took the dog for a walk and now I’m chilling waiting for the power to come back on, it’s like I live in some rural backwoods mountain town or something.

Mowed the lawn, raked the lawn (still paying for it getting to be obscenely high when I was on vacation a couple weeks ago), tried to trim but the weed whacker ran out of string, so I’m off to grab more and lunch, then will resume trimming.

A pullup/gymnastics ring station. The new job is requiring a lot of my time, and the only chances I have to get to the gym are when it’s super busy. Which basically means.... No gym. I have an extra room for car parts, which will now become the home gym!

After lunch I re-wound the string with the new roll and trimmed, finished in a light rain. Turned off the weed whacker just in time for a flash of lightning and thunder. Couldn’t have timed it better!

It can be fun, but when we are under such a tight deadline, it’s rough. I’ve had several months of 60+ hour weeks, the last two were over 70 hours. I’m tired.
The fun part is all the data we get to work with. Even better is knowing that if successful, we’ll generate nearly $100M in funding and help hundreds of thousands of people.
